In the fall of 2015, Adidas announced the Futurecraft 3D, a sneaker prototype with a bespoke 3D-printed mid-sole and a sustainably produced mesh-and-knit upper. Using foot-scan technology, the mid-sole is rendered as a flexible, breathable carbon copy of an athlete’s footprint, offering an unprecedented level of individualized support. Released on October 7, 2015, the Futurecraft 3D is the first in a series of Adidas Futurecraft projects that will focus on collaboration and craftsmanship as a means to foster innovation.
