Converse Gripper

Although These high-tops look similar to Converse All Stars, they’re actually Grippers, another Converse model popular in the late 1940s and early 1950s. In the postwar era these sturdy army duck cloth sneakers featured ribbed white toe guards and ventilating perforations. Advertised as having “comfort cushioned arches,” they were designed for playing basketball as well as other sports.
