When Converse introduced the Weapon, it was a far cry from the classic canvas Chuck Taylor All Star. As one of the most advanced basketball shoes of the era, the Weapon boasted the Converse Y-bar system, which was designed to offer players’ feet greater stability. NBA greats Larry Bird of the Boston Celtics and Magic Johnson of the L.A. Lakers both wore Weapons during the dramatic 1986 NBA finals, which popularized the shoe among their fans. This pair features the Lakers’ team colors, yellow and purple.
