Established in Italy in 1911, Fila produced sought-after shoes that blended Italian luxury and performance and signified ostentatious consumption. By the 1980s, the brand had become a household name in North American sneaker culture. Fila was the first sportswear company to sign basketball great Grant Hill when he was a rookie with the Detroit Pistons, and Hill wore this shoe when he and his team won the Olympic gold medal in basketball for the United States in 1996.
