Nike Michael Johnson Gold Shoe

The Gold Shoe, made for sprinter Michael Johnson, is one of Tobie Hatfield’s best-known designs for Nike. The shoes were the lightest-weight track spikes at the time, and Johnson wore them at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games when he won two gold medals, in the 200- and 400-meter events. The shoes seen here are in two different sizes, to accommodate Johnson’s feet; his left foot is size 10.5 and his right is size 11.
