Nike designer Eric Avar, building on the design of the Foamposite, brought Nike Shox technology to basketball with the Shox BB4. The idea for the shoe was inspired by a rocket and its boosters—the uppers are reminiscent of a spacesuit. Toronto Raptor Vince Carter wore Shox BB4 when he accomplished his historic “dunk of death” during the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.
