Nike x Tom Sachs Whites (Original)

In 2012, New York-based artist Tom Sachs created a limited-edition capsule collection for Nike called NikeCraft. The products, including lightweight jackets and multiuse duffle bags in addition to vintage-style sneakers, were sold at a pop-up store in Sach’s Park Avenue Armory exhibition titled Space Program: Mars.

Sach’s work frequently employs bricolage, a DIY mentality of working with materials at hand, as a tool to confront fetishistic branding and consumerism. These NikeCraft prototype boots, hand-assembled with tape and fabric and embellished with black marker, retain the artist’s hand despite the mass-produced nature of footwear.
