The Insta Pump Fury was a running shoe designed by Steven Smith (former Reebok Innovation Design Director) in 1993, but the sneaker’s bold colorway and futuristic architecture made it a popular fashion item. The exceptionally lightweight sneaker forwent laces and the manually inflatable bladder seen in the Reebok Pump. Instead, the Insta Pump came with independent CO2 cartridges that inflated the bladder at the instep, ensuring a snug and individualized fit. Tested at the 1992 Summer Olympic Games, the shoe was released to the public in 1993.
