Vans has produced a wide variety of skate shoe models and colorways over the years, but the Slip-On is arguably the company’s most iconic style. The black-and-white checkerboard colorway was inspired by the designs kids drew on their sneakers, and it was made famous by Sean Penn’s character, Jeff Spicoli, in 1982’s Fast Times at Ridgemont High. One scene even prominently features a Vans shoebox, with the iconic “Off the Wall” logo that debuted in 1976.
